Can you believe we have finished ten days of school already? Students in Room 102 are doing a great job of being kind to each other and following directions from teachers! This week, Ms. Trahan and I introduced and began using tickets and a ticket jar. The goal is to fill the jar with tickets so we can plan a special classroom reward. I presented the students with three choices of activities and they voted for their favorite. "Flashlight Friday" was the winner! I will send home more information about this special day soon. In the mean time students will continue following directions and being kind to each other to earn tickets as a class. We will introduce another component of this classroom system next week which involves earning prizes! The purpose of the classroom reward system is to create positive feelings towards making appropriate, safe, and kind decisions.
At the end of the day on Friday Ms. Zanotti gathered all of the kindergarten students and introduced Pine Glen's school wide reward system. Hoot the owl is our school mascot and will be keeping an eye on the whole school! Appropriate, safe and kind behavior is what we are encouraging throughout our school!
Today we talked about activities that each of us like to do in the fall! Many students like to jump and play in the leaves. Some students shared how they like the sound leaves make as they step and jump on them. Students in room 102 love to share their stories and ideas with each other!
Another beautiful day for outdoor recess! I want to bottle up this weather and save it for this winter.
We had our first library class today. Ms. Small read a story and then the students browsed for a book to take home. I hope you enjoy reading together!! Students can return library books anytime into our classroom "book return basket". We like to follow a one book returned and one book borrowed policy each week. Thanks for your support with this!
During morning meeting today the students got in line in alphabetical order. We talked about their first names and what to do if the first letter is the same as someone else. Alphabetical order is a skill we will revisit throughout the year.
